Scholarship Applications

Below you will find the Scholarships that are available to the class of 2018. Students should check the criteria to see if they qualify to apply. If applications are available online, there will be a direct link to that website. If there are no links, hard copies will be available in the guidance office. The documents posted below have been created using Adobe Acrobat as forms. You can type your information into the form and print the form, but the information typed into the documents cannot be saved, it can only be printed. 2017/18 Scholarships

Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship

  • Current Senior in U.S. High School
  • Planning to pursue a degree at a College or University
  • Applicants must show a commitment to making a significant impact on their school and their community as well as being recognized for the capacity to be a leader.

Amount: 150 - $20,000 scholarships awarded nationwide

Deadline: October 31, 2017

Wendy's High School Heisman

  • Graduating Senior 
  • GPA of at least 3.0
  • Competed in at least one sport throughout high school
  • Leader in school and community
  • Serve as a role model for underclassmen at your school

Amount:

  • 2 (one boy and one girl) - $1000 Scholarship Winners from each state
  • 10 -$5000 Scholarship winners who are named National Finalists
  • 2 - $10,000 Scholarship winners who are names National Winners

Deadline: October 2, 2017

Neil Knauer Memorial Scholarship

  • C+ or better GPA
  • Involvement in hunting or interest in wildlife conservation
  • Involvement in extracurricular activities
  • 2018 Graduate of Livingston County High School

Amount: 3 - $500 Scholarships

Deadline: March 3, 2018

Applications are available outside the guidance office.

Elks Most Valuable Student Scholarship

  • 2018 Graduating High School Senior/U.S. Citizen
  • Applications judged on Scholarship, Leadership and Financial Need

Amount: 500 - 4 Year Scholarships:

  • 2 - $50,000 Scholarships
  • 2 - $40,000 Scholarships
  • 2 - $30,000 Scholarships
  • 14 - $20,000 Scholarships
  • 480 - $4,000 Scholarships

Deadline: November 27, 2017

Horatio Alger Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior
  • Must demonstrate critical financial need ($55,000 or lower adjusted gross income
  • Minimum grade point average of 2.0

Amount: Multiple scholarship available ranging in award value from $6000 to $25,000.

Deadline: October 25, 2017

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship

**Awarded to a 2017 DTHS grad last year!!**

  • Demonstrate the attributes of leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship
  • Must have at least a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be a current high school senior
  • Must plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study toward a bachelor's degree at a four year college or university

Amount: 20 - $10,000 Renewable Scholarship awarded up to $40,000 per recipient

Deadline: January 4, 2018

Chesebro/Cushman/Kyser Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior or past graduate of a high school in Livingston County
  • Applicant must plan to attend a college or university full-time next year

Amount: Multiple scholarships will be awarded with amounts to be determined

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Applications available outside the guidance office

Alpha Beta Recruitment Grant

  • Graduating high school senior from Livingston, Marshall or Woodford County in Illinois
  • Applicants must be a female who plans to enter the field of education

Amount: 1 - $200 Recruitment Grant with the opportunity to apply for one of six $2000 Scholarships

Deadline: Postmarked no later than January 5, 2018

Applications available outside the guidance office.

Hagan Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior 
  • Must have earned a 3.5 cumulative GPA or higher
  • Must have at least a 23 on the ACT or a 1200 on the SAT
  • Must plan to enroll in a four year college or university following high school graduation
  • Applicant EFC must be less than $6500.

Amount: 350 - Scholarships worth up to $40,000.

Deadline: November 15, 2018

Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation Scholarship

  • Graduating Illinois High School Senior
  • Have taken the ACT or SAT
  • Child or grandchild of a veteran or active-duty

Amount: Multiple one year, non-renewable scholarships worth $1000

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Illinois Sad Sacks Nursing Scholarship

  • Graduating Illinois High School Senior who has been accepted into a pre-approved nursing program or may already be a student in an approved School of Nursing in the State of Illinois
  • Prove satisfactory in academic record, character, interest and activity record, and financial need

Amount: Multiple one year scholarships - amount varies yearly

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Illinois AMVETS Trade School Scholarship

  • Illinois High School Senior who has been accepted in a pre-approved trade school program
  • Child or grandchild of a veteran or active duty

Amount: Multiple one year, non-renewable $1000 Scholarships

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Illinois AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Scholarships

  • Illinois High School Senior
  • Child or grandchild of a Veteran of the United States of  America who served after September 15, 1940 and was Honorable Discharged or who is presently serving in the military

Amount: Multiple $1000, one-year scholarships

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship

  • Graduating Illinois High School Senior
  • Student must have at least a 'C' average
  • Student must plan to attend a post-secondary school or accredited vocational or technical trade school

Amount: Number and amount of scholarship to be determined

Deadline: March 1, 2018

IACAC Scholarship

  • 2018 graduating high school seniors
  • Student must plan to pursue a college or university education
  • Applicant must exhibit a commitment to learning and have demonstrated community service and service to others in their school

Amount: 10 - $1000 non-renewable scholarships

Deadline: January 31, 2018

America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship

  • High School Senior, or enrolled in college
  • Plan to pursue a degree or certification in specific areas of agriculture or chemical/electrical/mechanical engineering.
  • Have a minimum 2.5 GPA/4.0
  • Obtain two online farmer endorsements

Amount: Multiple $1500 Scholarships

Deadline: February 1, 2018

CBAI Foundation for Community Banking 2018 Annual Scholarship

  • Illinois High School Senior
  • Must submit an essay using Community Banking Prompts

Amount: Multiple scholarship awards totaling $21,000 across the state of Illinois.

Deadline: Turn into local bank no later than Friday, January 19, 2018

**Applications must be turned into local banks who are participating in this scholarship drive (Dwight Bank, First National Bank of Dwight)**

Applications packets are available outside the guidance office.

 

Ivan "Zeke" Zimmerman Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior at Dwight Township High School
  • Applicant must have exhibited a strong work ethic both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Applicant must have achieved at an academic level in high school that would indicate good potential for success in their post high school education.
  • The applicant must have an interest in studying a business-related field of study

Amount: $500 non-renewable scholarship

Deadline: April 6, 2018

Applications must be returned to DTHS Guidance office by posted deadline

B+ Scholarship
  • DTHS graduating senior continuing their education at a 2 or 4 year school
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Applicant must document several hours of volunteerism at school and in their community
  • Applicant must possess a positive attitude and exhibit qualities which include volunteerism, generosity and/or a passion for the fine arts/performing arts.

Amount: $500 non-renewable scholarship

Deadline: April 6, 2018

Applications available outside the Guidance Office.  Completed applications should be turned into the DTHS Guidance Office by posted deadline.

Township Officials of Illinois Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior in Illinois
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Applicant must plan to attend a college/university in Illinois full-time
  • Must have a history of extracurricular acitivities to demonstrate leadership, civic responsibility and willingness to volunteer in their community

Amount: 7 - $1500 Scholarships

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Martin Scholarship

  • Applicants must be a high school graduate seeking continued education at an accredited college or university in the following fields of study: liberal arts, music, science, nursing, business or engineering.
  • Scholastic achievement, student activities and freedom from the use of alcohol and drugs will be considered in awarding this scholarship.
  • All applicants must live within the Odell Fire Protection District, Odell Public Library District or the Odell Grade School District.
  • Applicants need not be a recent high school graduate.

Amount: Multiple scholarships of varying amounts

Deadline: March 1, 2018

Applications are available outside the DTHS Guidance Office

Ethel K. Hoerner Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a member or a dependent of a member in good standing with Livingston County Farm Bureau.
  • Applicant must a resident of Livingston County or be attending a school in Livingston County
  • Applicant must demonstrate a strong interest and intention of entering a career in agriculture

Amount: Multiple scholarships with value up to $1500

Deadline: Thursday, February 15, 2018

Illinois Masonic Scholarships

  • Graduating high school seniors from Illinois
  • Applicants need to be pursuing a college degree full-time
  • Some scholarships require the applicant to have a Masonic Relative

Amount: Typically over 450 scholarships are awarded annually of varying amounts

Deadline: April 1, 2018

Dwight Lions Club - Keith Lauritzen Memorial Student/Athlete Scholarship

  • Graduating Dwight High School Senior who has participated in at least one sport for all four years of high school
  • Applicant must plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college or university, trade school or vocational school.

Amount: 1 - $500 non-renewable scholarship will be awarded

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Applications are available outside the DTHS Guidance Office

 

Dwight Lions Club Scholarship

  • Graduating Dwight High School Senior 
  • Applicant must plan to enroll in a 2 or 4 year college or university, trade school or vocational school.

Amount:  1- $1000 non-renewable scholarship will be awarded

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Applications are available outside the DTHS Guidance Office

 

Joliet Junior College Scholarships

  • Graduation High School Senior who plans to attend Joliet Junior College
  • Applicant must have applied to JJC prior to completing applications
  • Criteria varies for each scholarship

Amount - Over 300 scholarships of varying amounts are available

Deadline: May 1, 2018

Joliet Junior College Foundation Scholarship for Outstanding Graduates of District High Schools

  • Graduating Senior from Dwight Township High School
  • Applicant must meet qualifying academic criteria of cumulative 3.25 GPA or higher and a score of 1070 or higher on the SAT and/or 21 or higher on the ACT
  • Applicant must have completed application for admission prior to completing scholarship application.

Amount: DTHS recipient will receive full tuition/fees for 2 years, up to a maximum of                       $3200/year.

Deadline: April 1, 2018

A.B. Terwillegar Scholarship - Agriculture

  • 2018 DTHS Graduating Senior who plans to pursue a degree in an Ag-related field

Amount: 1 - $1000 Scholarship

Deadline : April 13, 2018

Gertrude Terwillegar Scholarship - Nursing

  • 2018 DTHS Graduating Senior who plans to pursue a degree in Nursing.

Amount: 1 - $1000 Scholarship

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Cathy and Lee Nelson Educational Fund Scholarship

  • 2018 DTHS Graduating Senior who plans to pursue a career in teaching at the grade school or high school level.

Amount: 2 - $2000 Scholarships

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Steiniche Scholarship

  • 2018 DTHS Graduating Senior who plans to pursue a career in the medical field.

Amount: 4 - $500 Scholarships will be awarded for the 2018-19 school year.

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Steiniche Scholarship Renewal Year 3

  • Competitive Renewal open to Class of 2016 recipients of the Steiniche Scholarship

Amount: 1 - $2000 Scholarship will be awarded

Deadline: June 8, 2018

Steiniche Scholarship Renewal Year 4

  • Competitive Renewal open to Class of 2015 recipients of the Steiniche Scholarship

Amount: 1 - $2000 Scholarship will be awarded

Vicki Briner Memorial Nursing Scholarship

  • 2018 DTHS graduating senior pursuing a degree in nursing or a former DTHS graduate currently enrolled in a nursing program.
  • Applicants must exemplify the following qualities: financial need, academic success and the desire to be of service to others

Amount: 1 - $1000 Scholarship

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Warren Herter Memorial 'Pay It Forward' Award

  • 2018 DTHS graduating senior
  • Applicants will be required to write an essay describing a specific time in their life where they performed a random act of kindness and how it impacted their life.

Amount: 2 - $500 Scholarships

Deadline: April 13, 2018

Dwight Education Association Scholarship

  • 2018 DTHS graduating senior
  • Applicant must plan to attend college or university in the fall full-time pursuing a degree/career in teaching.

Amount: 2- $600 Scholarships will be awarded, since there were no applicants from the                Class of 2017.

Deadline: April 6, 2018

Starved Rock Country Community Foundation Scholarships

Carol and Dick Janko Scholarship for Promising Entrepreneurs will award 5 - $1000 Scholarships to 2018 high school graduates or recent graduates who have entrepreneurial experience during high school or since high school graduation.

The Internet of Things (IoT) Scholarship for Science, Engineering and Technology, Presented by B + B SmartWorx Powered by Advantech  will award a $1000 Scholarship to a male recipient and a $1000 Scholarship to a female recipient who can demonstrate an interest in the Internet of Things (IoT), or have been involved in Engineering, Science and/or Technology activities at school, in the community and who have taken related technical courses

Deadline: All scholarship applications should be submitted by March 31, 2018

 

Illinois Sheriffs' Association Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a permanent Illinois resident
  • Scholarships must be utilized at institutions of higher learning in Illinois
  • Students must be enrolled as a full-time student during the 2018-19 school year.

Amount - 100 - $500 Scholarships across the State

Deadline: Must be submitted to the Sheriff office in your county no later than March 15, 2018

Streator Onized Credit Union Member Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a member in good standing of Streator Onized Credit Union.  This means candidates must not have any delinquent loans, charge off accounts or negative balances.  Note: The applicant must be a primary member of SOCU by April 1, 2018 to apply for the scholarship.
  • Student must be enrolled, or will be enrolled as a full-time student, in an accredited college, university or trade school
  • Student must have a current minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Student must attend college during the school year listed on the scholarship application.
  • Student who have previously received a Streator Onized Credit Union Scholarship may NOT reapply.

Amount: 5 - $500.00 Scholarships and 3 - $250.00 Scholarships

Deadline: Postmarked by April 1, 2018

Livingston County Home and Community Education Association Scholarship

  • Applicant must be a student who has graduated or will graduate from a Livingston County High School or who resided in Livingston County prior ro college or university attendance.  Home-schooled students are eligible.
  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited 2 or 4 year college/university.
  • Applicant must be a student pursuing an education in Family and Consumer Sciences or related fields

Amount: 1 - $1000 Scholarship

Deadline: May 31, 2018

Applications are available outside the Guidance Office

Sammy Sartoris T-21 Friendship Foundation Scholarship

  • Livingston County graduating Senior who plans to pursue a degree in a field that would benefit those with Down's Syndrome.  

Amount: To be determined 

Deadline: March 30, 2018

Dwight Woman's Club Scholarship

  • Graduating high school senior who plans to attend a 4-year College or University or a 2-year College or vocational/trade school.

Amount: One $750 Scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to attend a 4-year College or University and one $750 Scholarship will be awarded to a student planning to attend a 2 year College or Vocational/Trade School.

Deadline: April 16, 2018

Dwight V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 2608 Financial Assistance Fund

  • Local Veteran or member of a Veteran's family who wish to further their education by pursuing a college degree or a career direction at a technical school.  

Amount: 4 - $500 Scholarships

Deadline: April 16, 2018 

Friends of Nate Severson Scholarship

  • DTHS graduating senior pursuing a career in an Ag-related field or has plans to have a career in farming in the future.
  • Applicant should be an active member of the Dwight FFA
  • Student may be enrolling in a 2 or 4 year school or trade school
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5

Amount: 1 - $1000 non-renewable scholarship

Deadline: April 6, 2018

Nate Severson Family Scholarship

  • DTHS graduating senior pursuing a career in an Ag-related field
  • Applicant should be an active member of the Dwight FFA
  • Student may be enrolling in a 2 or 4 year school or trade school
  • Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Completed applications are due to the DTHS Guidance Office by April 20, 2018

Amount: Number and amount of scholarships to be determined upon number of applicants and available funds

Deadline: April 20, 2018

Dwight FFA Scholarship

  • Graduating DTHS senior pursuing post-secondary training at a college/university, trade school or technical school
  • Applicant must have been involved in the Dwight FFA and agriculture classes for at least 2 years.
  • Preference will be given to those pursuing an agriculture related field and you have been involved in FFA and community events

Amount: Will be determined by number of eligible applicants and available funds.

Deadline: April 6, 2018

Dwight Bank Scholarship (Branch of Bank of Pontiac)

  • Graduating Senior from Dwight Township High School who plans to further their education

Amount: 2 - $1000 Scholarships will be awarded

Deadline: April 27, 2018

Applications available outside the Guidance Office

Livingston County Grade School Association Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior from Livingston County High School
  • Must have attending a Livingston County Grade School
  • Must have been an active participant in extracurricular activities during junior high.

Amount: 3 - $500 Scholarships will be awarded

Deadline: June 15, 2018

Applications available outside the Guidance Office

Exelon Generation Scholarship
  • Graduating Senior from Dwight High School who plans to further their education in a Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematics career field at a Community College, four-year College or University, or similar institution. 

Amount: 1 - $500 Scholarship will be awarded

Deadline: April 20, 2018

Applications should be turned into the Guidance Office

Fred Drendel Memorial Scholarship

  • Graduating Seniors from Dwight High School, Gardner-South Wilmington High School, Herscher High School, Pontiac High School or Tri-Point High School.
  • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Applicants must be accepted or enrolled in an accredited college or trade school
  • Applicants must be pursuing a degree in agriculture or be from an agriculture family

Amount: 3 - $1000 scholarships will be awarded

Deadline: April 25, 2018
