Congratulations to Katie Gartke for being selected as our Redbird Teacher of the Month for September! She goes above and beyond to support the growth of her students and is a valuable mentor for our new staff. We are lucky to have her in our Redbird Family!

6th-8th Grade Boys Basketball Signup on 8to18 is open! Please register your athlete on 8to18 and make sure that a current physical is on file in the office if this is their first sport of the season.

The Lady Redbirds fell 12-2 to a tough Pontiac St. Mary's team in the Regional Championship softball game tonight. Best of luck to St. Mary's as they advance to Sectionals! We also want to congratulate Olivia and Courtney for earning IESA Sportsmanship Award Pins at tonight's game!

We celebrated our 8th Grade Softball players last week. Thank you to EACH OF THESE REDBIRDS for their hard work and dedication on and off the field! Best of luck to the team as they begin Regionals this Wednesday!

If your 5th-8th girls is interested in playing basketball this year, there is still time to sign them up! Register on 8 to 18 (directions are on our website) and make sure there is an updated physical on file in the office before practice starts. 5th and 6th will start practice next Wednesday September 6 at 6:30 am. 7th and 8th grade practice start date will be announced soon! If any 6th-8th grade boys are interested in playing basketball this year, registration is open on 8 to 18 as well. The season is coming up very soon! REDBIRD BASEBALL TRYOUTS INFORMATION TRYOUTS-Monday, July 31st & Tuesday, August 1st 3:30-5:00P -Tryouts are open to 6th-8th Grade Boys -Must have a current physical on file or turned in to Coach Trainor on the first day of tryouts. -Must be registered on 8 to 18. -Renfrew Park (All practices and games will be at Renfrew Park due to construction at DTHS.) Dwight Preschool Screening - Thursday, August 10th The Dwight Early Learning Program is hosting a birth to 6 year old developmental screening on August 10th, 2023. This is a play based screening in the areas of learning, motor, speech, and social development. Children over the age of three will have a screening of their vision and hearing. It is recommended to have your child screened at least once prior to the start of school. Children 2 ½ and older must be screened in order to be considered for the preschool program at Dwight Grade School. The screening will be located at the Dwight Methodist Church on Thursday, August 10th. If your child has been screened once before, and you have no developmental concerns, it is not necessary to have your child rescreened. If your child already attends preschool at Dwight they do not need to be screened again. To schedule an appointment call the Dwight Grade School main office at 815-584-6220 starting Tuesday, August 1, 2023.

2023 FALL PRESCHOOL SCREENING - August 10th & 11th The Dwight Common School office will begin taking appointments two weeks prior t0 the screening dates.

We couldn't have picked a better day for the 7th grade to visit Starved Rock State Park! Thank you to Ms. McCloskey & Mr. Eggenberger for organizing this field trip, and the parent/guardian chaperones that went as well!
